Maria E. Perez, Executive Director
Maria E. Perez, a very dynamic and strong Hispanic leader admired and honored for her great efforts and commitment in creating hopes of so many Hispanics in her town. Maria was born in Guatemala Central America. She moved to Hanover in 1980, with hopes and dreams of a better life. As many other immigrants, Maria found herself in a language dilemma that took years of learning and refining. Despite to learning a new language, adapting to a new culture , Maria completed a three year Bible education at the Institute of Pentecostal Churches of Jesuschrist Inc. and graduated from York Technical Institute as a Computerize Accountant. Maria is one of the founders of the El Sol Latino local newspaper, member of the Hanover Latino Task Force and Diversity Summit Committe and she is currently The C.O.S.M.I.C. Project after school program's Home Education Coordinator.
Mirna X. Wildasin, Project Director
Mirna has been a residence of Hanover, Pennsylvania since 1976 and was born in Guatemala, Central America. Mirna and her mother moved to Hanover to follow a dream like so many other immigrant families; seeking a better life. After years in schooling, learning English, and making a difference in the Hispanic population, she was certified by the University of Queensland as an Accredited Provider of Parenting Programs and in 2006 obtained certification by the School of Social Work- University of Pittsburg in abuse and neglect on child development .Has earned an undergraduate four year degree in Business Administration with a minor in Public Relations from U.S.C. Mirna hopes to continue making a difference in the lives of so many Latino families by promoting educational experiences and encouraging activities that will allow families to get the best education possible. Mirna is the founder of the first Spanish local newspaper, " El Sol Latino", Hanover Youth Resource Network, Hanover Latino Task Force and Diversity Summit Committee. Mirna is currently the Project Director of The C.O.S.M.I.C. Project, after school program funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers .
